Accessibility Statement
The short version.
We design Vastura Digital to be usable by as many people as possible — including people who rely on assistive technology. We follow WCAG 2.1 Level AA as our target. We're not perfect yet, and we want to know when we fall short. If something doesn't work for you, email us and we'll fix it or find another way to help.
1. Our commitment
Vastura Ltd is committed to digital accessibility — not as a checkbox, but because the tools we build are most valuable when the most people can use them. Accessibility is considered at design time and verified before publish.
2. Conformance standard
Our target is WCAG 2.1 Level AA (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, World Wide Web Consortium). Where federal procurement or provincial standards apply (Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, Accessible Canada Act regulations), we align with those requirements as well.
3. How we approach accessibility
What we do consistently:
- Semantic HTML markup (proper headings, landmarks, lists, form labels)
- Keyboard-navigable interfaces (every interactive element reachable via Tab)
- Sufficient color contrast (WCAG AA: 4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text)
- Alt text on imagery; image-decorative attribute on purely visual elements
- Visible focus indicators
- Responsive design that works at zoom levels up to 200%
- Forms with explicit labels and error messages tied to fields
- No content that flashes more than three times per second
- Plain-language summaries on legal documents (see any policy under /legal/)
4. Known limitations
Things we know aren't perfect yet:
- French-language locale (FR) is not yet available; the site is currently English-only. FR is on the roadmap.
- Some embedded third-party widgets (Calendly for booking, Stripe for payments) inherit those vendors' accessibility behaviors; we choose vendors that prioritize accessibility but can't guarantee their internal experience.
- Photo-realistic imagery used across the site has alt text; some decorative imagery is marked decorative rather than described in detail.
- Live captioning on any future video content is a roadmap item, not yet implemented.
If you encounter a barrier not listed here, please tell us — see Section 6.
5. Assistance and accommodation
If a feature of the site isn't working for you, contact us by email or phone (when published) and we'll either fix the underlying issue, find a workaround, or provide the information through another channel. Reasonable accommodation is part of our service, not an exception we make.
6. Feedback and reporting issues
We want to know when accessibility falls short. Please tell us:
- Email: accessibility@vastura.ca
- Subject line: "Accessibility issue" plus a brief description
- Include: the URL where you encountered the issue, what you were trying to do, what didn't work, and any assistive technology you were using
We aim to acknowledge receipt within two business days and respond substantively within ten business days, with a remediation plan or a workaround.
7. Third-party content
Some content on Vastura Digital is supplied by third parties — embedded videos, external links to peer-team tools, downloadable PDFs from our consulting practice. Where we can, we choose accessible third-party content. Where we can't, we'll work with you to find a usable alternative.
8. Assessment approach
We assess accessibility through a mix of:
- Automated testing during development (axe-core or equivalent)
- Keyboard-only and screen-reader smoke testing during QA
- Periodic full-page audits by our internal QA team
- Real-user feedback (the most valuable signal)
External third-party audits may be commissioned for high-stakes pages (checkout, capability statement, B2B inquiry form).
9. Changes to this statement
We update this statement when our accessibility posture changes, when we ship new content
that needs assessment, or when applicable standards evolve. Prior versions live at
/legal/archive/accessibility/.
