Acceptable Use Policy

1. Who this applies to

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") applies to anyone who accesses Vastura's website, software products, or services — visitors, customers, B2B prospects, and anyone using a Vastura account. The AUP supplements the Terms of Service; if the two conflict, the Terms control.

2. What's allowed

The expected stuff:

• Browse the site, read content, download materials offered for download
• Sign in to your account, manage your settings, view your orders
• Use Vastura software products as documented, for the purposes they're built for
• Engage our B2B services for legitimate business purposes
• Share Vastura content (capability statements, blog posts, tool documentation) when expressly permitted

3. What's prohibited

You may not use Vastura's site, software, or services to:

Break the law

• Engage in or facilitate any activity that violates Canadian or applicable foreign law
• Infringe copyrights, trademarks, or other intellectual-property rights
• Send unsolicited commercial communications (spam) in violation of CASL or equivalent
• Process personal information you don't have a right to process

Attack or abuse the systems

• Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of any Vastura system without written authorization
• Bypass authentication, access controls, or rate limits
• Use bots, scrapers, or automated tools beyond what robots.txt explicitly permits
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code from our software
• Introduce malware, viruses, ransomware, or harmful code
• Mount denial-of-service attacks or interfere with normal operation

Harm others

• Impersonate Vastura, its staff, customers, or anyone else
• Harass, threaten, defame, or stalk individuals
• Distribute content that's defamatory, obscene, hateful, or that incites violence
• Collect data on other users without their consent

Misuse our tools

• Resell or sublicense Vastura software without an authorized reseller agreement
• Share an individual account across multiple users to circumvent licensing
• Use Vastura tools to compete unfairly (e.g., to build a competing product through extraction)
• Misrepresent Vastura output as something it isn't (see Paper Trader section below)

4. Paper Trader specifically

Paper Trader is a learning and practice tool for individuals studying trading. It is not:

• Investment advice or a recommendation to buy or sell any security
• A guarantee of future performance
• A regulated brokerage, broker-dealer, or investment service
• A substitute for licensed financial advice

You may not represent Paper Trader output as advice from Vastura, use it to make investment decisions for others without their understanding it's a practice tool, or otherwise mislead anyone about what it is. Vastura Ltd is not a registered investment dealer or advisor.

5. How we enforce this

When we observe (or are credibly informed of) a violation, our default approach is:

1. Reach out to the user to understand context (if practical and not defeating the purpose)
2. Issue a warning and ask for the behaviour to stop
3. Suspend access if it doesn't stop, or immediately for serious violations (security attacks, illegal content)
4. Terminate accounts for repeated or severe violations
5. Report to law enforcement when legally required or warranted

We don't preview every action; the absence of an immediate response doesn't mean we've approved a use. We may also act on a third-party complaint received in good faith.

6. Reporting abuse

To report someone abusing Vastura services or content, email abuse@vastura.ca with: what you observed, where, when, and how to reach you for follow-up. We don't share reporter identities with the reported party except where required by law.

7. Changes to this policy

We update this AUP when our products or the threat landscape change. Material changes are announced on this page with a revised effective date. Prior versions live at /legal/archive/aup/.
